A Bit of Dazzle & A Lot of Mom Tears

Well, it is with much reserve that I write this post. Perhaps I would have just ignored the event altogether to save some face if it weren't for the fact that one of the girls might do something equally disgraceful as parents and need a story to make them feel better : )

Sophia's yearly dance recital was last weekend. I use the word "was" lightly because we were not actually in attendance of said recital. And why you might ask? Stage fright? Sickness? Oh no, no, we missed it because some mom lost her damn mind and thought the recital was at 4:30 instead of 3:30. Yep, that's right, my dear, sweet, darling daughter missed the half hour event she had been practicing for an entire year because her mom can't manage a calendar. Oh, the guilt. And the tears...the hours of tears. I should clarify that the tears were from her mother, not her.

The best thing to come from this experience is the knowledge that Sophia is as resilient and easy going as I always knew she was. She is still talking about her recital, as if it actually happened.  The flowers and few pictures we took with a couple of her friends in their costumes after the recital were enough to make the day special for her. Oh, and luckily she managed to ignore the weeping mess of a mother in the front seat of the car. Sheesh...

Luckily I did take video during the rehersal so we at least have the routine on tape...she's the second from the end on the left in the back row : )

Easter x 2 cont.

Brown County, IN...

Easter x 2!

This year we were able to celebrate both American Easter and Orthodox Easter since they were a week apart. This meant a full week with family! It was a wonderful visit. Thank you to GG & G for hosting us in both Cincy and Brown County and Yia Yia in Dayton.

Oh, and sorry for the puke souvenir we left you, GG : (

Easter, take one...

Happy Greek Independence Day!

We have a couple stars on our hands! Sophia is an old hat at this newspaper stuff but it was Evi's first time in the newspaper. Sophia was in the Detroit News and Evi (+ daddy) were in the Detroit Free Press. Minus the butchering of Evi's name "Evan Gelia" the images are pretty darn cute..behold my little (and big) stars : )

Little Bean Turns 2

I feel like we've been talking about Evi turning 2 for a long time now. Perhaps because she's been acting like a big girl....or perhaps because she's mastered the fine art of the tantrum : ) Regardless, the day finally came. Oh woe is me....

I must say, she was as cute as cute can be on her big day. SO excited! She seemed to know the day was all about her. She seemed so much more aware of it then Sophia ever did at that age. I finally realized why...that big sister of hers! Perhaps with your first everything is new and shiny for you (the parent) but with your second it's so much more rich because they have someone to share it with. Someone whom is their size and understands them more then you ever could. It was amazing to see!

We were also blessed to have Yia Yia and Theo Bill in town to celebrate the entire week with us. It was wonderful! Here are just a few pictures of sweet beans big day. Oh and before I forget! Stats!

Weight: 25lbs 7oz (40%)
Height: 35" (75%)
Head: 17 3/4" (15%)
