Halleluiah, Praise the Lord, Amen, Thank You Jesus!

For those of you who did not hear me complain (doubtful anyone is left) I vehemently hated the rocking chair we bought for Sophia's room. Hate is a very strong word and one I very rarely use. But I HATE that chair. We were all, "Gliders are ugly and expensive" so we'll be cool and get a traditional, plain rocking chair because how bad could it be? We'll put a little cushion on it and voila!

NOTE TO ALL THOSE EXPECTING: DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP!

I don't care if it is the ugliest darn chair you have ever seen. You are going to sit in it for hours and it better be comfortable. Here are my arguments:

1.) Our house was built in the 20s, thus we have squeaky floors. There is perhaps one square inch of floor in her room that does not squeak when rocked on.

2.) Rocking chairs "travel" on carpet. So if you are brave enough to move it to the rug as to avoid problem #1 then you might as well pack a bag because that thing is going places. You will either end up hitting a wall or rocking yourself right out the room.

3.) When problem #2 happens and you need to somehow return to said room, you will need to pray real, real hard that when you get up and the rocking chair swings back and hits the wall and/or squeaky wood floor that your now sleeping baby does not wake up.

4.) If you are not familiar with these beastly things you may not know that the front edge of a rocking chair seat is higher then the back. So those of us vertically challenged have to engage in acrobatic stunts to get into it without dropping the baby. Then reach down for the pillow to prop up your arm that is holding the baby. Then realize you forgot the burp cloth. Lean down to get the burp cloth and drop the pillow. Try to move the wooden "cool" foot stool closer. Accidentally get your toe stuck under what you thought was a nifty storage lid only to have it bang shut making the loudest noise known to man. Baby is finally calmed down from screaming due to the racket you've just made. Foot stool is close enough. Pillow in hand. Burp cloth on shoulder. Chair positioned on 1 inch spot that doesn't squeak. Now where did I put the bottle....SH*T!

So it is with extreme pleasure that I welcome our new glorious glider. Amen

I Sit, Therefore I am Upright

I've been sitting for a little over a week now and the new altitude has made me more opinionated. Not sure if it's the air quality up here or just my new vantage point but I am all kinds of feisty. Here is a picture of me being all "big girl" and stuff and one of me with my friend Hollie. She has yellow hair. I don't know anyone with yellow hair just black hair. Then on Sunday when we went to church I saw white hair. It was crazy. All kinds of hair colors. Who knew! And some even had less hair then me.

Overheard...

I'll set the scene: Taki playing with the baby on the floor. He's playing peek-a-boo with her stuffed bunny when he breaks out into song....

"Here comes Peanut Butter..."
"Here comes Peanut Cotton"
"Oh! Here comes Peter Cotton Tail hopping down the hmhm hm"

HAHAHAHA.

The Numbers Are In

Today I had my 6 month shots. I screamed my tiny head off but I did get big girl bandaids this time which is way cool. Here we go:

14lbs 10oz (allthough I was a jumping bean on the scale so this may be a little off)
26" (75% percentile!!!!)
16" Head circumference (almost up to the 10th percentile)

Oh, and by the way....
This is my dog! STAY AWAY!

Over the Hill!

As of tomorrow I am over the hill. That's right, on the fast track to the big #1. Mom & Dad cannot believe how fast the first 6 months have gone. Where did they go? Mom planned to put a candle in my oatmeal but my insistence of being fed RIGHT NOW! did not allow for such celebration. So we took a few pics (you can't tell I had squash for dinner can you?)to commemorate the big day.

Baby Marlie Has Arrived!!!

My cousin Kristi and her husband, Scott (allthough I'm not sure he should get much credit on the whole "arrival" part-kidding-well, not really) welcomed a little baby girl on January 8th!

Please join me in welcoming Marlie Rae...

Squash? You've Got To Be Joking!

Sophia had her first try of baby food yesterday. The lucky winner was squash, which ironically smells a lot lik Spaghettios. As you can see she wasn't all that impressed, however, on the second round today she was grabbing for it so I think we have a winner. Unfortunately the camera didn't catch the gagging which was quite funny.

Payback's a Blank

This is a family site people.

I have always said that I wanted my child to have a name that wasn't common like Jennifer. I hated having 4 or 5 people in every class with my name. In fact, in 3rd grade I had to go by Jennifer Knu because there was a Jennifer K and a Jennifer Kn as well. Ridiculous.

When Sophia was born we had names we had picked out that were anything but common but when we saw her we knew that Sophia fit her perfectly. I knew it was the more common of the ones chosen but by no means a "Jennifer".

Growing up I always gave my mom a hard time about picking a name that everyone had. She swore to me that she had no idea it was so popular. I told her she was nuts. How could she not know that every 3rd person was naming their child Jennifer? Did she not talk to anyone? Seriously, not possible.

So when Sophia's picture made it into the local paper last weekend and was placed directly next to a list of the Top Baby Names for 2007 with Sophia being number one...well, you can fill in the blank.

Love you mom : )

Happy New Year!

What a year it has been! 2008 has a lot to live up to!

We spent New Year's Eve with our amazing neighbors. Sophia woke up (and no I did not pinch her) a minute or so before the ball dropped. We expected her to cry with all the horns and poppers going off but she was in complete awe. Here are a few pictures of our little party girl.

Over The River And Through The Woods To GG & Yia Yia's House We Go...

Wait that doesn't sound right.....

We celebrated a wonderful first Christmas for Sophia in Ohio over the past two weeks. First we went down to G & GG's in Cincinnati and then up to Dayton to spend the remaining time with Yia Yia and all my cousins, thea's and theo's. Here are some photos from her first Christmas!!!
