The Tale of A Teeny, Tiny Snowman

Not sure if he can even be called a snowman or if we should shorten it to snman to reflect his abbreviated stature (all of about 7 inches). However small he may be, he is Sophia's very first snowman and thus, one for the record books. Please, hold your applause (we wouldn't want the thunderous roar to knock him over).

Tis The Season!

Having a toddler during the Christmas season is just too much fun. There is never a moment when you aren't reminded of the magic and fun through their eyes. Sophia is loving every second and so are we. She thinks Santa is just the best thing ever and sings Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer approximately 100 times a day. Here are just a few pictures of the fun we are having!

It's DONE!

Sophia's officially a big girl, living in a big girl room! And thank goodness she loves it and is actually excited to climb in to bed. I think it's been more emotional for me then for her. It's not easy to move your baby out of the room you planned for them before you even met them. Eh, or maybe i'm just an emotional pregnant sap? Hmmm...
And as you might imagine, daddy is still a bit stunned by the color. Even though we went as pale of a pink as we could, it's still PINK. I keep having to remind him that she is indeed a girl and he is soon to be father of yet another girl, thus pink will likely rule his world for at least a few years. Sorry, daddy : )

Sophisms Take 2...

For the records

Top 3 things out of Sophia's mouth on a daily basis:

"Mama/Daddy/inanimate object, what are you doin?"
"Mommy/Daddy, hold you" (meaning, hold me)
"Sumpin else?" (meaning, I don't want whatever it is you are offering me)

And some of our current favorite words/sayings:

-Nipples = Nickels "Mama, what are those nickels doin?" (while she is taking a bath. because apparently, nipples have an agenda)

-Marshmallows = Marshmeadows "Mama, have marshmeadows?" (asked about 50 times a day-current obsession)

-"Oh my gosh!"

-"I wanna _____ too" - In response to everything these days. For example:
mom: we're going to Ailey's house.
soph: see Paula too?
mom: yes, Paula will be there too.
soph: I wanna a Paula too.

mom: time to change your diaper.
soph: I wanna diaper too.

Mom: mommy needs to go to work.
soph: I wanna a work too"

-"...SO much"- For example:
"Daddy, I love you SO much"
"This horsey runs SO much"
"I eat it SO much"

-And finally....tonight I taught her to say "Amen Sister!" We'll see how well she does using it in the correct context.

Here is a video of Sophia singing her ABCs. It's hard to tell since the video is so dark but she's using the knob that makes the office chair go up and down as a microphone...

Happy Birthday Dorian & Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet

This weekend we drove down to Dayton to celebrate my cousin Dorian's birthday and Halloween with the family. Mommy and Daddy also dressed up like UPS delivery people and delivered a big box filled with balloons announcing what gender my sibling will be! Lots of pictures below

Rules of Trick or Treating according to Miss Sophia (and here we thought she would be too afraid to go along with it):

1.) You must try to gain entry in to each house handing out candy.

2.) If there is an animal at said house, you must refuse all candy and demand to play with dog/cat for the duration of trick or treating, or until parents drag you away kicking and screaming.

3.) If candy is handed to you, you must push past the hand that gives and dig right in to the bowl to pick for yourself.

4.) This is key...you must walk backwards to each house. (no joke-see picture #5)

5.) You must roll around in the grass of each house and pose like cleopatra and/or Rose from the Titanic.

Sophia, you could not be any more silly if you tried. You light up our world, baby girl!

Pumpkin Party

Thanks to all that came to celebrate (and eat troubling amounts of food) our 7th annual Pumpkin Party!

And here she is, in all her cupcake glory....

Looking as thrilled as can be : ) Oh, and FYI, those acrylic blend ski hats are just as itchy as they were when we were kids. Didn't last very long : (

Pumpkin Festivities 2009

Friday night we set out to find our pumpkins to carve for this year's Pumpkin Carving Party. After selecting them, we were walking to the car when I said, "we're going to go home and put faces on the pumpkins" and Sophia looks at me and goes "Yes, Jack-o-Lanterns". As if to say, duh, mom. I'm not an infant, you know.

p.s. just in case you are wondering why Sophia has a pumpkin seed on her forehead, it is because we insist she wears one while carving pumpkins. House rule. We have video of her a mere 3 months old wearing one and here is last year's....thinking she'll be less then thrilled by age 18.
