Dear God,
It will be April in 4 short days. Just wanted to remind you.

Easter-Take One

This weekend we traveled down to Cincinnati to celebrate Easter #1 with my Grandma & Grandpa and all my Knueven family. I was not so sure about all those strange faces (they tell me I met all these people just 3 months ago but that's like more then a third of my life-you try and remember back that far!) and clung tightly to mom & dad in the beginning. Then, just as I was beginning to like all of them (especially those bearing gifts) we had to go! How much you want to bet they're going to expect me to remember all those names and faces in a few months again. Sheesh. Will someone please draw me a family tree already? Here are a few pictures of my Easter adventures. Look for pictures of Easter part deux (Greek Style) at the end of April!

8 IS GREAT!

On Saturday I turned 8 months old. Mom is afraid I'm on the fast-track to toddler-dom because these birthdays just seem to come faster and faster. Daddy bought me a balloon for my birthday because they're shiny and I love them and that is all that is important in my simple life. So far I haven't popped it so score one for me. I also invited my friend Liam over for dinner and drinks. You know, a little pureed meat and sweet potato puffs washed down by some mighty fine milk. He let me ride on his car and I let him play with my purple ball. It was quite special.

Herbivore No More!

Not to say that I may not some day enjoy cilantro or other such herbs....but I am no longer of the Herbivore species. I still have a fondness for sweet potatoes but I'll stand for a little Turkey in the mix. I like to keep the parents guessing so I've decided that every time I take a bite of this new stuff I will squint my eyes so tightly that they aren't really open. You should see their faces! They're all "That's hilarious! I wonder why she does that. She's so funny and cute". Wrapped around my little finger, those two are.

And one more thing. Why is Herb (as in the edible type, not the bad name variety)pronounced with a silent "h" but Herbivore is pronounced with the "h"?
Hmmmm....I'll give $5 to the person who can answer that first.
And if no one can answer it then I will forever insist on calling anyone named Herb or Herbert by "erb" because, well, why not.

Finally!

Proof that Sophia bears at least some resemblance to me as a baby. Even if it's only crazy hair and a sly smirk. At least she has a dog in the background instead of a scary looking pig-like toy and plastic toy soldier that appears to be coming out of her bum. Although I must say, I do have a mighty nice farmers tan going on.

I Want A Diploma And It Better Be Framed

Taki & I have officially graduated from parenting 101, or at least parenting sick 101. It's a tough course so I advise all to avoid taking it if at all possible. This week has been interesting to say the least. Learned a bunch of new parent stuff. That's my silver lining. That's all I've got.

Monday:
11:00 a.m.-Sophia up-chucks all over herself and nanny Becca. Mom thinks "gross" and moves on with her day.

12:00 p.m. -Sophia spews all over herself, nanny Becca, and MY PRECIOUS NEW GLIDER while mom is at dentist. Becca calls, Mom's all "hmm, maybe somethings up"

Sophia spends remainder of day wanting nothing other than to be held while she stares into space. Mom thinks "yeah, something is definitely not right. she's sick".

8:30 p.m.-Sophia gets to sleep in Mom & Dad's bed because they are worried about her and want to keep a watch on her and she wakes up vomitting all over herself, mom, dad, sheets, everything in 4 foot range. When cleaning her up we find she still hasn't wet a diaper yet and it's been 7 hours. Dad doesn't give mom time to think this time. He says "time to go to the e.r."

Tuesday:
3:00 a.m. Return home from E.R. since Soph is able to keep down 3 syringes of pedialyte. Armed with a new bottle of that evil stuff from CVS. (ever lonely at night and can't sleep? Just visit your local 24 hr CVS and I can assure you the store manager will be happy to tell you his life story.)

And the rest is history...thank God.

I could go on for days since this whole traumatic experience has gone on for days but I'll spare you. Basically we all got the stomach flu. I can't explain how difficult it is to take care of a child who is sick when you are sick and need to be taken care of yourself. It was awful. No way around it. Just awful. We're finally all on the mend and Sophia started back on formula today. So far she has kept everything down and is thrilled she doesn't have to fight us coming at her with a syringe of that nasty pedialyte stuff. I never thought I would be so happy to change a wet diaper!

I now own every anti-bacterial product on the market. And we have yet to track down the culprit who infected us. Jerk.
